Full disclosure... I used to be a coffee shop regular.
I remember rushing to the coffee shop before work every day, frustrated as I waited in long lines to pay high prices for a beverage in a single use plastic cup.
Well the c-word shutdown era of 2020 changed all that and I went on a mission to find the best stay-at-home coffee possible. I started with thinking I could survive a couple weeks with cheap coffee like a tin of Folgers, but that was borderline coffee abuse. Then I splurged on a new insulated traditional coffee maker with the combo K-cup single cup brewer as well. That was a flop too.
The regular coffee was a mess and we often wasted so much coffee that got brewed but forgotten til the next day. The grounds would end up everywhere except the trash and I was frustrated to say the least.
Then I tried the Keurig style K-cups, but you couldn't tell WHAT was inside those cups and I realized I was not only polluting the environment with single use plastics, but I was polluting my body with micro-plastics by brewing boiling water through a plastic cup. (think about what happens when you leave a plastic bottle in the sun- YUCK!)
Needless to say I went through months of these frustrations, rather than what we thought would just be "2 weeks to slow the spread". I was about to give up and pay even more money for some ridiculous espresso machine when I found this amazingly small but mighty little system. It changed the way I make coffee and tea forever.
After another 6 months or so of enjoying this great new product that was not widely available in stores or online, I had so many requests from friends and family wanting the same thing, that I decided to build this business.
I spent a LOT of time and money building this website and and a social media marketing platform @fiftyskies. I hired a graphic designer. and worked with business mentors as I studied online courses as well.
